Michael Kanner, LPC

Counseling Director + Co-Founder of AMCN

Michael

Michael received a master’s degree in clinical mental health counseling from Richmont Graduate University. He is certificated in marriage and family therapy and trauma counseling. Michael has pursued additional relationally focused training through the highly regarded Gottman Institute and is a certified facilitator of Prepare/Enrich relationship assessments.

Michael works with adults and couples to address a wide range of concerns, including men’s issues, relationship dynamics, life transitions, stress, anxiety, depression, sexual identity, spiritual formation, and career counseling. He seeks to create a safe and collaborative space for clients to move toward hope and healing. Michael’s approach to the therapeutic process is best expressed by the words of Jon Kabat-Zinn: “you can’t stop the waves, but you can learn how to surf.”

Before his career in counseling, Michael earned a bachelor’s degree in business from Kennesaw State University and spent several years working for Apple Inc. as a manager and trainer. Throughout high school and college, Michael worked as a martial arts instructor, a pursuit he credits with cultivating an appreciation for mindfulness and a continued enthusiasm for physical fitness.

On the personal side of things, Michael enjoys spending time with his wife, three daughters, and their Golden Setter. He prioritizes his fitness routine with weight lifting and running, as well as hiking and wake surfing. He and his family enjoy long walks in their beloved city of Roswell, along with tennis, traveling, and trying new foods.
